New Year: New skin!

Posted on: 12 January 2011 by Rhian Mainwaring

Yep, you could stay off the drink, only eat berries and go for three colonic irrigations a day to clean up your skin – or you can cheat like we’ve done!

Yep January is the international month of detoxing, and whilst you’re staying in a cold winters night why not treat yourself with some at home pampering. We could do it the hard way or we could buy some lovely products and enjoy it too…

I don’t know about you but I’ve got a serious case of winter skin, it’s dry and dull and quite frankly I’m sick of it. So I’ve been exfoliating, buffing and moisturising myself into a lather, just so I can let you know the best of the rest. Yep, it’s a hard life but someone’s got to do it…

I’m starting in the bath with a deep exfoiliator. This one smells divine and has large sugary specks to rid you of all the dead skin cells and reinvigorate your skin. It also leaves a waterproof layer on your skin after the bath which leaves you feeling healthily moisturised (a little like a duck!)

The co-founders of Lush are on the grand OBE list this year and rightly so! With their eco friendly and natural products they deserve the recognition, especially after we tried their Brazened Honey Face Mask.  It has a strong earthy scent and is so fresh it has to be kept in the fridge, it also has that lovely skin tightening feeling as it dries. A good one to terrify the hubby with as well as a great pre-night-out pamper...

Clichéd as it sounds, this does exactly what is says on the tub! Yep my skin was dry, dry, dry and whatever I put on it made no difference. But this beautifully soft and indulgent cream is a miracle worker. It’s pricey but it’ll last, for now this is my miracle cure! (I wouldn’t recommend this for oily skin as it is a rich cream.)
