Operating Rules For 50connect Comment
The purpose of this communication is to allow indirect interaction between our members and to build an important community of 50connect users that can share their views, opinions and comments using our facility.
50connect believe in free speech and welcome comments both positive and negative but please ensure your comments are in line with the following terms and the ‘shortlist’ that appears at the bottom of the comment box. This is a public website and we expect our members to act with respect, decency and decorum.
Terms of Use:
-
You agree that 50connect is not responsible or liable in any way for any negative results of using this facility and therefore as a participant, you agree to do so at your own risk.
-
We reserve the right to suspend or ban a user and IP address. The decision of 50connect management and mediation team is final and no further debate, explanation or correspondence will be entered into.
-
We reserve the right to remove any postings or contribution. Any discussion regarding suspended or banned members is not allowed. If you are suspended or banned and you try or succeed in another posting, we reserve the right to contact your Internet Service Provider or the source of your email service (e.g. your employer).
-
If you know of any postings outside of our terms please report by emailing the mediator at: feedback@50connect.com
-
50connect take no responsibility for any comments posted and their opinions and do not endorse them. We reserve the right to use any material posted.
-
Any member/user name that contains any personal contact information, email addresses, website or abusive words will fail.
-
You acknowledge that there is a risk that a third party may access your personal details or information that may be provided by yourself or other participants.
-
Please note that no recruiting or poaching or collecting of emails from 50connect members or users may take place. The IP address of any such user will be recorded and the user will be contacted and prosecuted forthwith fully for any such action.
-
If you wish to promote using the 50connect website then please contact us using the appropriate advertising channels. No commercial postings, links, URL’s or advertising or promotions of any kind are to be placed by any user. The IP address/user details will be recorded and the holder will be billed at our usual advertiser rate card prices. Non-payment will result in legal proceedings.
-
We operate a zero tolerance policy on racist, sexist, religious, homophobic or sexually explicit comments. No swear words, offensive or foul language is permitted.
-
No comments that encourage unlawful activity including breach of copyright and defamation or harassment are allowed. No personal abuse, libellous, defamatory, personal, discrediting or damaging comments against any individual, company or commercial organisation will be accepted. Nor comments that encourage unsafe activities or endanger the well being of others.
-
Do not post any comments regarding any legal proceedings, jury service information etc, as the Crown could prosecute you.
-
In order to enjoy social networking via the Internet, guard against the risks of downloading or directly communicating with other users - they can hack into your PC or steal passwords. Make sure you have appropriate security such as firewalls, antispyware tools and virus protection.
Remember, when making postings get your facts right. In English law YOU have to prove what you write is true and in a court of law this can be a very difficult and costly process.
Do not make the mistake of:
-
Repeating others’ remarks about people or organisations
-
Jumping to conclusions or exaggerating
-
Presenting both sides of an argument as a defence
-
Adding the word ‘allegedly’ about an individual does not discount defamation
-
Inferring or using innuendos to suggest
-
Threatening or harassing any individual or organisation
-
Disclosing the privacy of individuals and their contact details
We reserve the right to remove any comments at our discretion and take action against those responsible. Anyone who violates these rules may be removed and we reserve the right to suspend or ban members. The terms do not constitute legal advice.
Any feedback for the comment mediators should be sent to feedback@50connect.com. These emails will not generate a response.
