Cirque Surreal
Cirque Surreal - Voyagers, Europe's largest new circus now touring Britain, makes for a fun family outing.
How long is it since you went to the circus? Today's visitors will find many changes for the 21st century.
Cirque Surreal features a dynamic fusion of traditional circus skills, modern dance and drama. The heated Theatre Big Top is fully floored and carpeted as is the spacious foyer with its licenced bar, shop and food zone. The entertainment is a world apart from any other circus you may have seen. One thing hasn't changed however - circus is still for the family and the young at heart of all ages.
The 25 artistes include Ukrainian clown Housch Ma Housch, touring the UK for the first time. He's described as, "A brilliant cross between Mr Bean and Marcel Marceau, who lives in his own world and speaks a fantasy language all his own."
The artistic line-up also includes Silfolini on their award-winning Wheel of Death, the outstanding aerial straps duo Desire of Flight, Russian aerialist Victoria Boyko, juggler Jemile Martinez, The Aladdin Troupe led by Said Debach, and Anna Rastsova on trapeze.
This all-human circus has been created, produced and directed by Carol Gandey and Phillip Gandey. It follows the modern fable of five voyagers travelling through space and time under powerful mystical lunar influences beyond their control, with intense drama and uproarious comedy, set to an original music score.
Described by SKY One TV as "Britain's biggest and best new circus," Cirque Surreal - Voyagers launches its 2008 season in April in the North of England and Isle of Man.
