Video: Lord Of The Rink Goes Underwater

Dancing On Ice winner Ray Quinn gives us all the gossip on becoming a skating star as the Dancing On Ice tour takes to the road.

After finishing runner-up on the X-Factor in 2006 – it’s fair to say that Ray Quinn has become somewhat of a national celebrity. With a number one album of Rat Pack covers, a national solo tour, and a West End debut, the 20 year-old Scouser has recently added ‘skating star’ to his list of accolades after being crowed champion of this year’s Dancing On Ice.

Not content with being a champion on dry land, the ‘Lord of The Rink’ recently swapped his skates for a pair of flippers as he went swimming with other rays in a bid to encourage families to get closer to sea life.

The Dancing On Ice star launched a new pirate-themed aquarium Sharkbait Reef by Sea Life at the Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire. The aquarium, which features a walk-through 10m-ocean tank tunnel and boasts over 300 spectacular species of fish, including sharks, rays, nemos and seahorses also houses the UK's only tropical interactive pool in which families are able to get touchy feely with the underwater life.

Have your say...

Firstly the fish stated here as "Nemos" are called Clown Fish. Nemo is the name of one of the main character in the Disney Pixar film Finding Nemo, a tale about a young fish that gets lost in the ocean who's father goes all out to find him. Please state the correct name of species. Secondly, Ray Quinn should not have been allowed to compeat in dancing on ice as he had several years of ballet and tap lessons at Miss Biots dance school from a young age. I feel it is wrong that he had more experiance than the other perticipants. Also his tour wasn't a huge success. It was lame and not worth the money paid to go and see it. Thank you for your time.

Whilst I agree that Ray Quinn did have an advantage over the other contestants regarding his dance capabilities, its not his fault that he was asked to participate by the producers of the show and that the other contestants who were asked had not had previous dance experience. Basically, once asked, he jumped at the chance to do something different and experience skating with Jayne and Chris (who wouldn't?) He worked hard and put in the hours and found that he had a natural talent, just like his dancing. Well Done Ray As regards to the success of his (sell out) tour...success is all relative....compared to say Michael Jackson, it miniscule...but there are a huge number of acts and entertainers out there who would have loved to have had some of Ray Quinn's success.
