Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich

Win The Very Best of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich on CD.

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich are back with the release of their greatest hits, including The Legend of Xanadu, Hold Tight which was recently featured by Quentin Tarantino in the film Deathproof, Bend It, Last Night in Soho and plenty more.

Formed in 1964, the group caught the eyes and ears of many songwriters and producers who liked their unique and infectious sound. The distinctive name, coupled with well produced and catchy songs by Howard and Blaikley, quickly caught the UK's public's imagination, and their records started to sell in abundance. Indeed, between 1965 and 1969, the group spent more weeks in the UK Singles Chart than The Beatles.

They also scored a Number One hit in the UK chart in 1968 with The Legend of Xanadu. This particular track made it 'big' world-wide, even in the USA where they had not seen much success. Their other Top Ten UK hits included Hideaway, Hold Tight, Bend It, Save Me, Touch Me, Touch Me!, Okay and Zabadak.

This autumn sees the return of a band rooted in musical history. Dave Dee, a policeman before forming the band, was actually one of the officers on duty who discovered the body of Eddie Cochran and injured Gene Vincent in April 1960. Dave took Cochran's guitar from the accident and held it until it could be returned to his family.

The band have been back performing across Europe for most of 2008 and look forward to continuing throughout the autumn to coincide with the release of The Very Best of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich on 8th September.

Have your say...

Good to see this release, includes a few favourites including Zabadak and Xanadu...however the best song was a "B" side called "Snake in the Grass". Never saw them as mum wouldn't allow me to go...I was only 8 at the time...

David Renfrew

Favourite song: Bend it. Unfortunately, I have never seen the group live.

Mandy Eakins

Bend It was my favourite too. However I was only 14 when it was released and when my mother stopped to listed to the lyrics one day she banned me from playing it again as it was 'filthy'. Although it was the sixties and the era of Flower Power and free love Mum was having none of it!

Chris Baker

Touch me, touch me

Deb Rooney

Bend It is also my favourite - always gets me singing much to my partner's dismay!

Julie Robins

My favourite song is The Legend of Xanadu

Tom Tamplin

Probably 'Hold Tight'.

Anne Plumb

I think bend it, although i liked all music from the 60s.

Phil Dewberry

O.K!
