On until 7th September The Art Of Surf, Grimsby
Grimsby's Fishing Heritage Centre is riding on the crest of a wave this summer- with a new exhibition on surfing. ‘The Art of Surf: An Art History of British Surfing’ looks at the sport's relationship with art. A collection of surfboards, surf-wear, artwork, posters and other memorabilia are on show in the museum's Muriel Barker Gallery. It has been put together by Brighton-based The Surfing Museum.
On until 13th September That’ll Be The Day, Bournemouth International Centre
Bournemouth’s summer season continues with That’ll Be The Day returning to the BIC.
Established as the nation’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll varitety show, the brand new production has over 100 classic gold hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s to the 80s with feel-good comedy routines combined to make the show bigger and better than ever. Prepare yourself for a ‘party’ with all the hits and much more in over two hours of non-stop nostalgia. Tickets cost between £18 - £20.50.

On until 18th September Doctor Who Exhibition, Earls Court
The largest ever Doctor Who display in the UK is taking place in the Museum Hall, beneath Earls Court Exhibition Centre.
Visitors will be able to get up close to props, costumes, monsters and creatures from all the latest episodes of the hit BBC TV show, including the Christmas special and forthcoming eagerly-awaited fourth series. During the summer break for Parliament it is possible to buy a ticket for a 75-minute guided tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
On until 28th September Amazing Rare Things: The Art Of Natural History In The Age Of Discovery, Buckingham Palace

While the Queen visits Scotland each summer, it is possible to buy a ticket to see the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace.
On until September Thornton Abbey Maize Maze, Abbots Garden
In April this year over two million seeds were planted in the shape of the Humber Bridge on an area the size of seven football pitches giving visitors a chance to literally lose themselves in North Lincolnshire’s countryside. Bridges and towers give spectacular views across the maze and of the adjacent Thornton Abbey gatehouse while in the courtyard there are quick six-minute mazes and children’s rides on electric tractors. The maize maze is open everyday from 10am to 6pm and admission charges apply.

1st – 29th Ramadan
Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It lasts about 30 days, starting and ending with an official sighting of the new moon. Healthy Muslims who follow this tradition are not supposed to eat or drink between dawn and sunset during Ramadan - they eat meals just before and after these times. It is also a spiritual time: Muslims are encouraged to pray, to do good deeds (avoiding bad behaviour, thoughts or sights), and if possible to spend time with family members.

6th Braemar Gathering & Highland Games, Scottish Highlands
Braemar is a small Scottish village in the Highlands of Scotland, not far from Balmoral Castle. It is a tradition for the villages to organise a gathering each year, and these include highland games and competitions for bagpipes and Scottish dancing. The Braemar event is one of the last of these events, taking place on the first Saturday in September. It is particularly famous because it is usually attended by the Queen, who stays at Balmoral during the summer.

Over 200 different rowing boats race along the River Thames, from Ham House (Richmond) to Island Gardens (Isle of Dogs).
13th – 14th Thames Festival, London
Two days of free music and entertainment on the south bank of the Thames, between Westminster Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge. The event starts at noon and ends at about 10pm on each day. One of the highlights is the Night Carnival (Procession of Lights) on Sunday evening. This procession starts on Victoria Embankment, just after Waterloo Bridge, at about 7:30pm. It follows the road east, crosses the Thames at Blackfriars Bridge, and continues west along the South Bank before finishing behind the Royal Festival Hall at about 9:30pm. From 9:45pm to 10pm there will be fireworks launched from a barge between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.
14th Beyond The Baracade, Bournemouth International Centre
Recreating the songs, music and sound of the world’s most popular musicals. 16th East Of England Classic Car Show, Huntingdon Racecourse
In excess of 3,500 visitors are expected to the show with classic cars and bikes from over 80 clubs on show. A free car boot sale, free auto jumble area, club and trade stands, crafts, and amusements for the children. Gate price is £4 per adult on the day.

Also known as the Greenwich Jazz Festival, this is a series of jazz events (many of them free) in and around Greenwich.

A prestigious art and antique fair that has become part of the social season in Harrogate, an elegant spa town in the North of England. 27th – 28th Great British Cheese Festival, Cardiff
