My Little Faux House
Created by: Joan Hinman, 01 January 2017
I have always loved and lived in older homes - 100 year old farmhouse, victorian era house- but live took a turn and i was on my own. I looked at what i could afford in 3 counties, and realized that if I wanted room for my children to visit, if I was to have more than a postage stamp yard, I was going to have to go against everything i had ever stood for and buy - a manufactured home. Never had I ever considered living in one of "those'. No character, no charm, no wood! To top it off, it sat on 2 acres of frontage (hope I am saying this right.) Years ago when farming was not as profitable, some farmers sold part of their farms. A couple of acres on a highway would suddently become a home. Two acres beside two acres, doublewide, next to doublewide. I could afford it and I could afford to make some changes. Now I know I will never be able to recoup a lot of expense in this kind of house. I'm not putting expensive hard wood on the floors. I'm not installing marble in the bathrooms. No this little faux house was going to continue to live it's little faux life, but with a twist. IT'S GOING TO LOOK FABULOUS! Unfortunately, I wasn't consistent with taking before and after pics, but I'll show you what I can, and, stay tuned, there is always more to do.
