Bike Week aims to re-engage people with the benefits and enjoyment of cycling – a fun and easy way to improve your fitness.
Bike Week, the UK’s biggest mass participation cycling event, has teamed up with Nokia to challenge families to jump on their bikes and leave the car at home.
The call to action is “Free the family” and rediscover how much fun can be had together on a bike.
All this week (14-22 June) there will be locally organised events and activities up and down the UK as part of this year’s annual promotion of cycling.
From Bristol to Belfast and Edinburgh to Eastbourne, thousands of free cycling events will provide the opportunity for everyone - from total novices to passionate cyclists to get on their bikes.
This year’s focus on the family means there will be children’s rides, bike safety checks and advice on getting started – all for free.

Many events will be raising money for Bike Week’s official charity, Sport Relief. Everyone taking part will be able to get active, have fun, and help turn someone’s life around while they’re at it.
Bike Week manager Andre Curtis says, “Plenty of parents have forgotten how much fun cycling was a child.”
“We want this year’s Bike Week to revive those memories and act as a catalyst for families to spend more quality time together.”

If you’d like to take part but don’t have a bike – this shouldn’t stop you – you can simply search for your nearest bike rental outlet on the website.
All participants get the chance to win a Center Parcs family holiday – giving you another reason to get on your bike and cycle.
