Great Grandmother Skydives For RNID Fundraising
Courageous and active 78-year-old Barbara Riddle has inspired many with her breathtaking 10,000 feet high skydive to raise funds for the RNID.
A 78-year-old fearless great grandmother has jumped into action to help RNID change the world for deaf and hard of hearing people with a skydive from 10,000 feet over St Andrews.
Barbara Riddle from Knock, Aberdeenshire hopes her adrenaline-boosting tandem skydive at an airfield near St Andrews raises more than £400 for the national charity.
Barbara, who has 20 great grandchildren, is no stranger to hair-raising adventures, having jet-skied, bungee jumped, white water rafted, paraglided and climbed a volcano during a trip to Australia and New Zealand last year.
“I love having a go at all kinds of so-called ‘terrifying’ activities," says Barbara. "As far as I’m concerned, age shouldn’t be a barrier to enjoying physical challenges and it was just fantastic experiencing the sensation of flying like a bird."
“I encourage everyone to think about what they can do in life and urge anyone looking for a fantastic, breath-taking experience to just give skydiving a go and raise some money for a good cause.”
