Kilnsey ParkPosted on: 10 July 2008 by Gareth Hargreaves
A fabulous family day out in the Yorkshire Dales.
Nestled beneath the famous Kilnsey Crag, with amazing views of the Dales, Kilnsey Park is a working trout farm where they produce over 150,000 fish per year.
The unique Yorkshire Dales experience allows visitors to feed the specially bred Rainbow Trout and watch the stages from the baby trout in the top raceway until they reach maturity.
As well as the local natural beauty, the park features the Kilnsey Trail where there is a fun Animal Trail for the younger children and a Detective Trail for the older ones, a playground with mini diggers and sandpit and an adventure playground in the treetops!
See the new arrivals in the Red Squirrel Conservation Scheme, enjoy fly fishing on Kilnsey’s lakes, or relax in the water garden and spot a menagerie of animals including geese, ducks and guinea fowl.
Kilnsey also have a Site of Special Scientific Interest - a water meadow with wild orchids.
After all that fresh air, you can sample the delicious trout in the restaurant then browse round the farm shop, which is well-stocked with Kilnsey Park produce and other local delicacies.
Admission costs £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for children over 5 and senior citizens or £10 for a family ticket.
