Spring sugar shades for interiors

Posted on: 16 March 2010 by Mark O'haire

This Spring sees interiors going candy coloured and making your home look almost good enough to eat!

Straight off the catwalk and into your home, one of this season’s coolest colour palettes is for ice cream colours and sorbet shades.

Following on from the 2010 catwalks, John Galliano for Dior, Zac Posen and Michel Kors all took inspiration from their childhood sweet shop favourites, using candy floss pinks, lemon sherbet yellows, parma violet purples and peppermint greens. These playful, soft, sugary colours are making their way into homes and can transform a hallway, living room or bedroom, adding softness and fresh colour this springtime.

For as little as a few hundred pounds you could transform any room with a new carpet, helping you achieve a stunning new look while remaining within your budget.

Interiors expert Andrea Maflin advises, “Choose carpets in delicate soft shades of sugar and dusky pink to add a calm feeling to a room.

“Follow these colours throughout using accessories in contrasting shades such as lilac or mint green. Use just two colours from this palette to prevent this look from appearing too childish. Choosing white furniture with clean smooth lines will add freshness.”
