The Top 5 reasons why today is going to be a great dayPosted on: 21 May 2014 by 50connect Promotions
Look at things from a different perspective, and open yourself up to new opportunities with these five tips for the day.
Sometimes it can be difficult remembering exactly what makes a day great, especially if it’s a weekday. We’re all guilty of sticking to routines, perhaps a little too often, which can mean we may feel stuck in a rut, or as if everything’s the same day in, day out.
However it doesn’t have to be this way, in fact, if you take time to think of all the good things that you experience in a 24 hour period you may well realise you’re feeling a whole lot better than before you’d taken note of these little things. So, if you need a bit of a helping hand to get you started, here are our top five reasons why today is going to be a great day…
1. You don’t know what’s around the corner
Break free from your routine, or change a little bit of it, and this small action could open up a whole new avenue of possibilities. This could be anything from changing the way you walk to the shops, to sitting in a different place when you eat your dinner, or smiling and saying hello to someone you haven’t acknowledged before. Little changes in routine can help lift you out of the mundane, and will help free up your mind to exploring lots of other possibilities.
2. Take a chance
Life is about experiencing new things, and just because today might be a Tuesday it doesn’t mean you can’t do something different. Why not have a go at something new, go for a swim, a walk around the park, play a game of bingo online with Titan Bingo and you may even get super lucky and win the jackpot. Or, pop to the library and choose a book you wouldn’t normally choose. The key thing to remember is to take a chance, it’s a great way of helping to make today great.
3. Do something for someone else
Being kind to someone is a surefire way of making you feel better about yourself. Bake a cake for a friend and pop by unannounced. Leave a book you’ve read on a park bench with a note inside telling the person who finds it that it’s theirs to enjoy. Little acts of kindness can lift our spirits and it doesn’t take a lot of money, effort, or time to do. Just think about the people who you’d like to say thank you to, and make sure you carry out that little act of kindness. Who knows, it could open up the floodgates for something nice to happen to you too.
4. Set yourself a challenge
It’s great to challenge yourself when you’re feeling in need of a boost. It doesn’t have to be something huge like setting yourself the challenge of running a marathon by the end of next month, but you could try doing something along these lines:
Phone someone you haven’t spoken to for a long time and re-establish a friendship.
Why not decide to take up ‘a photo a day’ for a month? To get a great snap will mean you’ll have to get out and about so it’s a double whammy of achievements.
Write. A letter, your memoirs, a one-act play. Writing can be done from the comfort of your own home and it’s a great way to let your imagination run wild.
Learn a new language. With plenty of online courses available, this challenge is a great one if you’re not able to get out and about so much.
Get fit. Chair-based yoga. Walking football. Running for ten minutes – exercise has been proved to help lift moods, so it’s another great way to help ensure today’s a good day.
5. Say ‘yes’ instead of ‘no’
It’s very easy to say ‘no’ immediately to things that we’re not sure of, but it could be much better to say ‘yes’. Try saying yes to something you wouldn’t ordinarily say yes to, going to see a film at the cinema which doesn’t sound totally like your sort of thing, or a play at the theatre which you might not bother with otherwise. Saying yes will open up so many more experiences to you, and we can only feel fulfilled by life if we experience it. So say yes to that holiday with the family, say yes to a drink down the pub with someone you don’t know too well, say yes to all the good opportunities that come your way and see your diary fill up with exciting things to look forward to. It’s always a good idea to have something to look forward to on the horizon and by saying yes there’s bound to be no shortage of those things.
We hope our top five reasons why today is going to be a great day may inspire you to think outside the box of your usual everyday life. Just remember, it’s about looking at things from a different perspective, and opening yourself up to new opportunities. If you have a go at one or all of these five tips, we’re pretty sure your day will soon be great.
