Lucy
White & black cat
Age: 5
Gender: Female
Lucy has been adopted!
Ollie
Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross
Age: 10 months
Gender: Male
Ollie is a bouncy, lovely chap full of character and mischief. He can be a little over the top with other dogs so needs owners capable of dealing with this. He’s a fun, interactive dog who needs constructive control and focus work, and people who are willing to give him lots of exercise and training. He would be best suited to an adult-only household, although a home with mature teenagers would be considered, and needs to live in a rural or semi-rural area with his own garden. He could live with a confident older female dog who might teach him some manners and deal with his excitability.
Ollie has such an amusing personality. He is full of energy and lives life to the full but definitely needs a home that is happy to invest time now to ensure they have a happy, well-behaved dog in the future. He has a great sense of humour and will add a lot of fun to his new owners' life.
Location: London
Contact: Please call Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, London on 020 7627 7884 if you are interested in Ollie, or email them on behaviourrehoming@dogshome.org and quote reference 2007/ 06526.
Oscar
Black & white cat
Age: 4
Gender: Male
This young feline is Oscar and he is desperate for a home of his own. A former stray, Oscar was found wandering on his own until Cats Protection took him in. After lots of TLC Oscar is ready to go to a new home. He has some special medical requirements, but is very loving and enjoys being stroked.
Location: Worcester
Contact: If you would like to give Oscar a permanent home, please contact Cats Protection’s Worcester Branch on 01905 820 348.
Natasha
Akita
Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Natasha arrived at Battersea as a stray so we do not have any history on this beautiful girl. Akitas are powerful and large dogs; they were originally bred for hunting, tracking, pulling sledges and to be protective family companions. Natasha is typical of the breed; she is friendly, loyal and intelligent but also has an aloof edge with strangers.
Akitas are strong and often have dominant characters so they do not make ideal dogs for the first time dog owner. Natasha is looking for an experienced owner, ideally someone that has owned an Akita or similar spitz types before. Natasha already knows a few commands and is a trainable dog but can be stubborn so patience is needed in training.
Natasha is fairly aloof with other dogs and can be a little intolerant around some boisterous ones so it’s best she’s the only dog in the home. We don’t know if she is compatible with cats but due to Akitas’ strong hunting instincts they are not normally good with small pets. Being a large dog, Natasha is looking for a large home with a secure garden and plenty of space.
Once settled Natasha could be left for short periods; she is happy to relax after a good walk and will amuse herself with a tasty chewy bone. Due to her unknown past Natasha cannot live with children. Natasha is a great dog and once bonded she will make a loving and loyal addition to an adult home.
Location: Brands Hatch
Contact: If you feel you can offer this super dog the home she needs please contact the rehoming team at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Brands Hatch to find out more on 01474 874994 or visit their website www.dogshome.org.
Willow
White & black cat
Age: 2
Gender: Female
Willow is a shy cat who is waiting for a quiet home. She was previously involved in a road traffic accident but has since made a full recovery. She will need an experienced owner who will help her to grow in confidence and will be best suited to a peaceful environment.
Location: Exeter
Contact: If you can offer Willow the home she is looking for, please contact Cats Protection’s Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre on 01395 232 377.
Mack & Rusty
Dogs
Age: 17
Gender: Male
The staff at Dogs Trust Salisbury are looking for a very special owner for two dogs needing to find a loving home together.
Centre Manager, Alison Rodger, explains, "Most dogs do settle in to kennels with no problems, but 17 is an advanced age and an older dog like Mack can become rather anxious in a kennel environment. Mack and Rusty are not settling in, despite our best efforts. They are terribly anxious and we are committed to finding the right home for them as soon as possible."
The pair of pooches are happiest when they are with people, so they need someone who is home most of the time. They're absolutely dedicated to each other, so are desperate to find a home together. They get on well with other dogs.
Location: Salisbury
Contact: If you would like to meet Mack & Rusty, please contact Dogs Trust Salisbury Rehoming Centre on 01980 629634.
Sasha & Katkin
Ginger cats
Age: 8 & 9
Gender: Female
Sasha and Katkin are an eight and nine-year-old pair of ginger cats at the Blue Cross's Devon animal adoption centre. They would love to find a new home together and have both had a tough time in the past so really deserve a loving owner. Sasha lost her tail a few years ago after she was attacked by a dog, but she manages fine without it. Katkins needs extra TLC because of a heart murmur but The Blue Cross will cover veterinary costs for this through the charity's fostering scheme. Both cats adore human company and show lots of affection in return for a bit of attention.
Location: Devon
