This Month's Pets Who Need Homes

JimmyJimmy
Black cat
Age: 9
Gender: Male

Cats Protection, the UK’s leading cat charity, is looking for an owner to adopt nine-year-old Jimmy.

He is currently in the care of Cats Protection’s North Ayrshire Branch where he is waiting for a new home. Jimmy is a friendly cat with a lovely personality. He has a happy nature but will enjoy life even more once he is in a home of his own. He is used to living in a quiet home and being the centre of attention so would benefit from being homed in a similar environment with an owner who can lavish him with affection. Jimmy will also enjoy a garden to play in as he loves the outdoors.

Location: North Ayrshire
Contact: If you would like to give Jimmy a loving new home, please contact Cats Protection’s North Ayrshire Branch on 07050 100 072.

LuckyLucky and Ben
Cats
Age: 11
Gender: Male

Lucky (pictured) and Ben are two 11-year-old male cats who are looking for a new home together. They have been in the care of Cats Protection’s Forfar Branch for the past few months and are desperate to find that loving home of their own. They both enjoy human company and need someone to give them the attention they deserve.

Location: Forfar
Contact: If you would like to give Lucky and Ben a new home, please contact Cats Protection’s Forfar Branch on 0845 371 2063.

GertieGertie
Black & white cat
Age: 13
Gender: Female

Gertie is a loving female cat who is around 13-years-old and looking for a home. She loves to be fussed and stroked and will always greet you with a little chirrup and lots of purrs. She does have special medical requirements relating to her thyroid, but she is a gentle and happy cat who will be very grateful to have a new comfy chair to sleep on.

Location: Sleaford
Contact: If you can offer Gertie the cosy home she has been waiting for, please contact Cats Protection’s Sleaford Branch on 01529 488 433.

StanleyStanley
Black cat
Age: 12
Gender: Male

Stanley is a gentle and loving male cat who is around 12-years-old. He came to Cats Protection when a member of the public found him as a stray in her garden. He is now in the care of the charity’s Tenterden Branch where his health has really improved.

When Stanley was found he was extremely thin and weak and was also timid. He was given the necessary veterinary care and was then taken in by the branch who watched him change dramatically as his health improved. He is now a much healthier and happier cat who is also very affectionate with everyone around him, especially if he is being stroked.

As he is a former stray Stanley is used to the outdoors so will need to go to a home with a garden where he can roam and explore. He will adapt well to most environments and enjoys human company.

Location: Tenterden
Contact: If you would like to give Stanley the second chance he deserves, please contact Cats Protection’s Tenterden Branch on 01797 366 379.

MineolaMineola
Greyhound
Age: 5-6
Gender: Male

Mineola is a beautiful boy who was born in October 2001 in Ireland. He began his racing career in 2003 and was retired in 2005. Retired Greyhounds make wonderful pets and Mineola really deserves a home to call his own after spending many years in kennels.

He’s a sweet and sensitive soul who can initially be shy with strangers but once he knows you, he is very affectionate and loving. Mineola has spent most of his life in kennels so he will take time to adjust to a home environment, he also has to get used to a whole different way of life, so patience and understanding is needed.

Mineola cannot live with cats and it is advised he is also muzzled when in the local park to protect cats, rabbits or similar small fluffy animals. Mineola is social with other dogs but he has mainly been used to other Greyhounds so he could possibly live with a similar sized female who will be a laid back friend for him.

Mineola has had little training, this includes housetraining so new owners will need to dedicate time to this initially. Most Greyhounds usually settle well in their new homes and do not take long to become fully housetrained. Due to his sensitive nature we feel a home without young children would be better for Mineola, although teenagers would be considered.

Mineola is used to car travel and seems very relaxed in a car. Once settled and housetrained Mineola could be left on his own after a good walk and if left with a comfy bed and tasty bone. Greyhounds are such lovely dogs they just need a chance so please consider offering Mineola or one of our many Greyhounds at the Home.

Location: Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Old Windsor

PJP.J
Lurcher
Age: 2
Gender: Male

P.J was brought in to Battersea as a stray so we have limited information regarding his past. He has been a loving, energetic and scatty addition since his arrival so needs owners prepared for a lively Lurcher. He will make an affectionate and loyal companion once owners have given him time to settle.

Ideally P.J is looking for owners who have owned dogs before. Knowledge or experience of Lurchers or similar sighthounds would be an advantage as he does like to chase and will need owners who can cope with this side of the breed. Unfortunately P.J cannot live with children, although teenagers would be considered.

P.J has had little or no training in the past so will need time dedicated to this initially, this may include housetraining. He is a young and active dog so may not like being left on his own for long periods but he is bright, trainable and willing to please.

P.J is social with other dogs but his favourite game is to chase which not all dogs or owners will like; new owners will need to have good control off lead and teach him a reliable recall quickly. He could possibly live with a similar sized female who will be a good role model but unfortunately he cannot live with cats.
