Do you have some time or a skill that you could volunteer to help cats in need?
Are you seeking a new experience? If so, Cats Protection is appealing for people to come forward and lend a hand to help the charity give many more stray and unwanted cats a second chance in life.
Cats Protection finds loving homes for around 60,000 cats every year through its nationwide network of 29 Centres and 261 Branches. Most of the work is done by volunteers, who fill a variety of roles including fostering, home visiting and public relations, giving them the opportunity to help cats, meet like-minded people and be part of a truly worthwhile cause.
"Volunteering for Cats Protection is a rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would benefit the charity or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge," explains Michael Henley, the charity’s Head of Operations.
"There is a great deal of satisfaction to be gained from cat welfare work and we have people from all walks of life volunteering for us. So if you have something to contribute, please get in touch!”
One individual who did just that is Sarah Smith, a Marketing Assistant who volunteered to help the Milton Keynes and District Branch last year.
Sarah says, "I love cats and had been thinking about helping my local Branch for a while. From looking at their website I noticed they did not have a Publicity Officer, so I offered my help, which was happily accepted!
“Since then I have got involved with a lot of interesting work such as organising the Branch’s local advertising and producing a quarterly newsletter for our members. I’m so happy I volunteered - it’s great to be part of an enthusiastic team and to use my skills to help rehome as many cats as possible."
