Sleeping Baby Cross Stitch Motif
A quick needlecraft project that would make a pretty New Baby or Christening greeting card.
Is there anything lovelier than a peacefully sleeping baby? Stitch this as a framed picture or use it in a baby sampler as a feature motif. It has been designed to be gender neutral so try altering the colours to suit the baby you are stitching for.

Mounting A Greeting Card
Cards come in a variety of types so here are two methods that should work for most of them.
Bi-Fold Cards
These are the everyday cards you would recognize in a shop - one piece of cardboard folded in half with no aperture. They are useful if you are trying to mount a non-standard size design, as you can make them from your own card stock if necessary. How about folding your own envelopes to match the card? Have a quick search on the internet and you will find lots of websites to show you how to do this.
Trim the fabric so it's the same size as the card, or slightly smaller. Pull away some thread at the edge of the Aida to create a small fringe then either glue or, better still, use double-sided sticky tape to attach it straight onto the front of the card.
Tri-Fold Cards
These cards are traditionally sold for mounting cross stitch designs. They have three sections, with an aperture in the middle one.
Trim the fabric so it will fit inside the card. Attach double-sided sticky tape to the card around the aperture edge, position it over the stitching, making sure it's lined up, and press down.
At this stage you can lightly pad the reverse with a piece of felt or wadding (batting) cut slightly smaller than the aperture. I'm not a fan of doing this, especially if your card is going through the post, as it can cause the card to crease at its thinnest point by the aperture.
To finish up, again use double-sided tape to stick the card over the back of the stitching.
