Jacqueline Sheehan, Ph.D, is a writer and a psychologist who lives in Massachusetts. The path to both professions was a dizzying route marked by early career choices as a director of a travelling puppet troupe, roofer, waitress, lifeguard, freelance journalist, health-food clerk and photographer. Most recently, she was the director of psychological counselling at Westfield State College in Massachusetts before leaving to pursue her present writing career.
She published Truth, a novel based on the life of Sojourner Truth in 2003 and edited an anthology, Women Writing in Prison, in 2005. Jacqueline teaches writing at international writing retreats and is the fiction editor for the online journal, Patchwork. She is currently working on her third novel.

I usually love this type of book, but to be honest it left me a totally flat. I just couldn't get 'into the story' though I cannot explain why exactly. The main character Roxanne Pellegrino doesn't work for me. There is far too little about her and her husband’s relationship to build up any real sympathy for the main character. Everything is about her is written around her job as a dog warden. Even Lloyd, the dog didn't come to life. Whether it was the writer’s style or maybe I was just in the wrong mood, I read it in 2 nights and was very pleased it wasn't any longer. The idea was great, but the book failed miserably. Sorry, but that's my opinion.
