One Event You Won't Want To Miss
The Society of Genealogists' Family History fair is the one event each year that no family historian can afford to miss. This highly popular, pre-eminent UK fair is the ideal opportunity to make forward steps in an engrossing hobby, whether you are just beginning or have been researching your family for years. With several thousand visitors each year, the annual Family History Fair is recognised as the top UK fair for all family and local history enthusiasts and should not be missed.
There is a wide range of lectures from genealogy experts on both introductory and specialised subjects, helping those who want to know how to start, as well as those who need more in-depth guidance. There are also computer and internet lectures and demonstrations using the latest software packages and the Internet. The advice centre will be staffed by specialists supplying information and help which will save you time and money as well as offering new leads to direct your research.
The Society Of Genealogists' have their own extensive bookshop where you can browse and buy all the latest books, maps, CDs, disks, fiche and software packages and on Sunday there will be second-hand sale of books from the library.
With nearly 50 exhibitor stalls already booked, including local Family History Societies, records offices, professional researchers, publishers and software houses this year's fair is looking like it could be even better than last year, with experts from all parts of the country on hand to answer your questions and guide your research.

The Society is seeking volunteers to help with all manner of duties on both Saturday and Sunday at the Fair, which can include stewarding lectures, reception & tickets, and offering help and advice of all kinds to visitors. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs Marjorie Moore by email or by letter to the Society at 14 Charterhouse Buildings, Goswell Road, London EC1M 7BA in the first instance with details of your availability. Your offer will be acknowledged, and details of your duties will be sent to you in April. The Society relies heavily on help from our volunteers, and would be grateful for any assistance you could give. Entrance to the Fair is free for all volunteers.
