Fifth Festival Of Fools
Enjoy over a 100 funny, bizarre and entertaining performances.
The Festival of Fools is back at Muncaster Castle in the Lake District from Saturday 24th May to Thursday 29th May 2008.
Some of Europe’s wackiest entertainers, as well as walkabouts by comedians, magicians and musicians will perform.

Saturday 24th May
From 7pm: Comedy Cabaret
Sunday 25th May
Daytime performances by Martin Soan.
Walkabout acts: comedian and magician Joel Dickinson and musician Carolyn Francis.
Monday 26th May
Daytime performances by Mike Chapman with his ‘In a Spin’ show. Washing machines that play music, disco dancing with sink plungers and the legendary Ironing Board of Death all feature in the one man kaleidoscope of circus, music and comedy from Circus Fudge.
Walkabout acts: comedian and magician Joel Dickinson and musician Carolyn Francis.
Tuesday 27th May
Daytime performances by Robert Blake from Holland who has been the Dutch Street Magic Champion three years in a row. He will be perform in his Cowboy Magic Show.
Walkabout acts: comedian and magician Joel Dickinson, entertainer Ian McNichol and Steve Richardson who will be appearing as Marcus Aufidius Maximus, Senior Centurion of Legio Sextus Victrix Pia Fidelis.
Wednesday 28th May
Daytime performances by Los Bonobos a Franco German duo who promise to teach audiences some very cheeky songs, while demonstrating new ways of 'peeling the onion'!
Walkabout acts.
Thursday 29th May
The culmination of the Festival with the International Jester Tournament when a new Fool of Muncaster is appointed. Six entertainers will be competing for the prestigious title, using a mad mix of comedy, juggling, fire eating and magic.
The event will be compered by last year’s winner, American entertainer Paul Garbanzo. The prize for the winning jester includes a crate of Cumberland Ale every month for a year.
Entry Prices:
Adults £7.50. Children aged 5-15 years £5.50. Family tickets (2 adults & 2 children) £24.
Entry to the Castle costs an extra £2.50 per adult, £1.50 per child and £5 per family ticket (2 adults & 2 children).
There will additional charges for some activities.
