Inspiring Learning For Everyone
Sky Learning has created a series of initiatives that provides you with different ways to learn at a time that suits you.
Sky and the National Trust are proud to launch the National Trust Discovery Programme, offering a range of learning activities for the whole family based at National Trust properties around England, Northern Ireland and Wales, including Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire and Hidcote Manor Garden in Gloucestershire.
For adults, the programme will offer Lecture Lunches; a series of lectures that allow those with a shared passion to come together, meet others and engage with special guest speakers on subjects including the arts, history, geography and specialist topics like climate change.
For families, over the summer months a series of magical outdoor performances set against the uniquely atmospheric backdrops of splendid castles, magnificent houses and exquisite gardens will take place involving local theatre groups, providing a great opportunity for families to experience period classics like Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at Calke Abbey, Derby and family favourites like Peter Pan at Corfe Castle, Dorset.
Families can also use new Tracker Activity Packs to help them explore and learn from some of the houses and castles they visit.
For schools, the innovative programme aims to enhance school learning through creating links for schools with a local National Trust house or garden enabling pupils to work on related arts projects, as part of the Schools Arts Partnership; and involving students directly in the management and conservation of a Trust property through the Guardianship Scheme.
All of the above activities complement the dynamic learning resource, Sky Learning Explorer, which recommends TV programmes linked to GCSE’s, A Levels and your interest and passions from Sky's wide range of channels. You can explore video clips, features, a selection of study guides and free online taster courses from The Open University which complement Sky's wide selection of interest including Arts, Literature, History, Homes and Languages.
