Wainwright Walks On DVD
Enjoy the spectacular Lakeland Fells in your own home, with Series Two of the BBC's popular Wainwright Walks programme.
In the stunningly beautiful BBC factual series Wainwright Walks: Series Two, respected broadcaster Julia Bradbury once again follows in the footsteps of legendary fell walker, artist and guide writer Alfred Wainwright across the spectacular Lakeland Fells.
This hugely successful six part series was originally screened on BBC Four and remains one of the most highly rated factual programmes in the channel's history. Acorn Media will release the series on DVD on 7th January 2008 which includes six of Wainwright's most popular Lakeland walks. Bradbury tackles one of the Lake's most famous challenges - Helvellyn, ascends Catbells and surmounts the true summit of Helm Crag.
Wainwright, also known as AW, will always be known for his Pictorial Guides To The Lakeland Fells compiled between 1952 and 1966. These beautiful hand drawn, illustrations of 214 Cumbrian fells, have informed and inspired fell walkers ever since. Wainwright's Pictorial Guides have been in continuous publication since they were written and have sold more than two million copies over 40 years.
Using aerial footage to capture the true glory of the Lake District, Bradbury follows Wainwright's Pictorial Guides To The Lakeland Fells to discover the treasures of the area in this fitting tribute to the life and work of Britain's most beloved naturalist.
DVD special features include an interview with Eric Robson, an Alfred Wainwright biography, picture galleries and a Julia Bradbury filmography.
Wainwright's Walks: Series Two is available at all good DVD stores, RRP £16.99, or online from Amazon.
