Speak To Future Generations

Growing Ambitions are looking for working people across all trades and professions to register their interest to speak at their local schools and colleges, and explain what their jobs are really like. 

There is no long-term commitment, and the only requirement is that you volunteer to give half-an-hour of your time, at a time that’s convenient to you. 

The not for profit initiative aims to encourage local children with the experiences of real people, working in the real world.  In return, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have contributed to the future in your locality, and inspired a new generation with your experience in your trade or profession.   

Ian Wetherell, Head Teacher at Llanedeyrn High School in Cardiff says the scheme will be extremely useful to his school.

“One of the hardest things for schools to do, even now, is to get young people to raise their expectations of themselves," he says.

"Last summer, although we had our best ever GCSE results, I know that the kids were capable of more.  As a nation we grapple with low expectations from all: parents, teachers and the young people themselves.  This site will be a good resource for teachers everywhere who need a one-top shop for speakers and employers who are willing to support the children in their community.”
