The Blues Brothers (1980)
It may be one of the most used and abused movie clichés, but when done correctly, the car chase scene can be the highlight of any film.
The Blues Brothers is a 1980 musical-comedy directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues, characters developed from a Saturday Night Live sketch.
It features musical numbers by soul legends, including James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles, and epic car chase scenes.
The film is set in Chicago, Illinois, and also features non-musical supporting performances by Carrie Fisher, John Candy and Henry Gibson.
The Plot
After the release of Jake Blues from prison, he and brother Elwood go to visit the old home where they were raised by nuns. They learn the church stopped its support and will sell the place to the education authority, and the only way to keep the place open is if the $5000 tax on the property is paid within 11 days.
The brothers want to help and decide to put their blues band back together and raise the money by staging a big gig. As they set off on their "mission from god" they seem to make more enemies along the way.
It features lots of thrilling police chases, mayhem and destruction with the highlight when the chase goes through the shopping mall.
