Adopt a pet: Flower

Posted on: 05 August 2010 by Mark O'haire

Volunteer Alison King has been walking dogs at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home for the past five-and-a-half years. She tells us about one of her favourite pooches, Flower, who is desperate to find her forever home.

“Flower is such a gorgeous dog and has been waiting patiently for a home for the last six months. I can’t understand why she’s still here as she will make the most wonderful companion.

"I come to Battersea most days and will always make time for Flower – whether it's a nice long walk to the park, or some cuddles in her kennel. It’s the ones who have been here the longest who need a bit more TLC. One of the things I love about her is how she greets me enthusiastically with her big smile – she’s always so happy to see you.

"Before I take her to the park, I usually take her into a paddock for a run around and she loves to chase after a tennis ball and brings it right back to you for more. She is a fantastic retriever! When she’s worn out she’ll come over to you and collapse by your side for a big cuddle. She’s such a softie.

"Flower loves her walks to the park and is friendly to everyone she meets – people and dogs. Everyone who meets her says what a lovely dog she is.

Flower1"She is such a wonderful dog and has everything to offer. If I was in the position to have a dog myself, she’d be the one I’d go for. I’d be over the moon if she finally found a family to take her home.”
