Turkey stun the Czech Republic to steal a place in Euro 2008's quarter-finals, while Switzerland end on a high.

Turkey produced a stunning comeback to beat the Czech Republic and clinch a quarter-final place.

The Czechs had dominated the game for large periods and deserved their two goal lead but Turkey had other ideas; turning the game on its head in the final 15 minutes.

Co-hosts Switzerland ended their campaign in style, beating an understrength Portuguese side thanks to a double strike from Hakan Yakin.

Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci scored two late goals to complete an astonishing comeback against the Czech Republic and secure his side a Euro 2008 quarter-final.

Veteran striker Jan Koller steered in a header to put the Czechs ahead before Jaroslav Plasil slid in to add a second.

Arda Turan slotted in for Turkey to set up a tense finale and Nihat equalised after a goalkeeping howler from Petr Cech.

Minutes later Nihat crashed in the winner to send the Turkish fans wild in celebration but there was still time for Turkey goalkeeper Volkan Demirel to be shown a red card for a push on Koller.

Cech is regarded as one of the best keepers in the world but his 87th minute error was the turning point in a thrilling game.

Penalties loomed after his error but Nihat stunned everyone when curling a superb right-footed shot in off the underside of the crossbar.

The teams had gone into the match with identical group records and the straight showdown for a quarter-final berth had Geneva rocking.

Elsewhere, Hakan Yakin’s double gave Switzerland a happy ending to their Euro 2008, beating Portugal 2-0.

He scored his second, and third of the championship, from the penalty spot to delight the home fans and coach Kobi Kuhn who was overseeing his final match in charge of the Swiss.
