Sky Arts’ daily coverage of the Guardian Hay festival.
The Guardian Hay festival, described by Bill Clinton as “the Woodstock of the mind”, celebrates its 21st anniversary this year. Over eleven days, more than 85,000 visitors are expected to take part in the festivities whilst enjoying over 400 events encompassing the arts, politics, environment, comedy and music.
As exclusive broadcast sponsor, join Sky Arts for its daily coverage of the Festival Hay on Sky which will be broadcast daily from the festival, providing an hour long round up of this year’s festival.
Hay on Sky will feature exclusive interviews with renowned authors, artists, politicians and social commentators. The programme will be presented by Mariella Frostrup who will interview the biggest and best names at the festival from the Sky Arts purpose built studio on location at the site and will feature highlights from each day’s debates, sessions and talks in addition to a live music or comedy performance.
This year’s Hay on Sky will include interviews with authors such as Salman Rushdie, Joanne Harris, A L Kennedy and Marianne Keyes as well as performances by Louis de Bernières and his Antonius Players, Seckou Keita Quartet and Tinariwen.
Additionally British comedian Dom Joly will bring his own breed of mayhem to the show with a daily sketch from his antics out and about revelling in the Hay atmosphere.
Viewers will be able to see video highlights from the previous night’s exclusive Sky Arts broadcast on their dedicated website, skyarts.co.uk/hay. This includes behind the scenes podcasts, a production blog, a photo reportage feed along with festival news, anecdotes and interviews with some of the biggest names in the arts.
If you are attending the festival don’t miss the Sky Learning Zone at Hay which will feature a series of workshops from English National Ballet and English National Opera. Designed to develop new skills for adults and children, the workshops include improving your posture and developing your voice plus a special appearance from Angelina Ballerina to inspire all our budding young dancers.
