Your Music MemoriesPosted on: 29 July 2008 by Gareth Hargreaves
From the first record you bought to the final concert by your favourite band, what are your most memorable musical experiences?
MP3 players, CDs, cassettes, records - how we listen to music may have changed, but those tunes from our formative years will always bring back vivid memories.
Songs provide the soundtrack to our lives, from that first kiss to blissful summer holidays. Those youthful moments spent dancing in a disco, screaming at a concert or travelling to a festival are part of who we are.
We would love to know what songs instantly take you back to your teenage years. What was the first record you bought? Whose picture did you stick on your wall? Which concerts did you go to, and if you've seen a favourite act reunited recently, how did they compare?
Perhaps you were a screaming girl overcome with emotion at seeing your idol for the first time on stage, whether it was the Beatles, David Cassidy or your own chosen pop star. Maybe you went to the Isle of Wight, Glastonbury or Reading festival in the 60s or 70s and saw Jimi Hendrix, Thin Lizzy or The Enid.
You might have tuned into pirate radio, or watched Top of the Pops, Ready Steady Go or The Old Grey Whistle Test. Or perhaps you even started your own band, inspired by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin or another rocker.
