Ian McGeechan

Lions head coach Ian McGeechan gives his thoughts on the 2009 tour, from South Africa.

The countdown to the 2009 British & Lions tour to South Africa has already begun with head coach Ian McGeechan visiting Cape Town prior to the Springboks’ fixture with Wales.

The tour will take place almost exactly a year away from today and promises to be the biggest Lions tour to date.

McGeechan, joined by Lions team manager Gerald Davies, speaks about the great challenge that lies ahead and the fact finding mission he finds himself on.

The 61-year-old Scotsman coached the Lions on their last series win, which came against South Africa in 1997 and is relishing the opportunity to lead the four countries back to the home turf of the current world champions.

Welsh legend Davies also gives his verdict on the current Wales side touring South Africa at the moment.
