The Oldest Married Couple

Thomas and Elizabeth Morgan married on the January 19, 1891 in Caerleon, Monmouthshire and remained married for 81 years, 260 days until Elizabeth’s death.

When Elizabeth died she was 105 years, 2 days and Thomas was 104 years, 260 days – a combined age of 209 years and 262 days!

The Oldest Person in the World

Edna Scott Parker was recognised as the oldest person in the world up until her death on November 26, 2008. She died aged 114 years and 115 days – a very grand old age!

She became Indiana’s oldest living person on April 7, 2005 (aged 111 years and 352 days) and became the oldest living American on February 14, 2007 (age 113 years and 300 days). Edna is one of the 15 longest lived people ever; Jeanne Calment of France was recognised as the oldest at 122 years, 164 days when she died on August 4th 1997!

The Oldest Bridesmaid ever

Flossie Bennett, at 97 years and 181 days, was Matron of Honour at the wedding of Leonard and Edna Petchey on February 6, 1999, at St Peter's Church in Holton, East Anglia, UK.

Flossie shared her bridesmaid duties with Leonard's 12-year-old granddaughter, a record age gap of 85 years between the two bridesmaids!
