Maintaining any time - the must know things to keep the white even whiter.
What is it about a white kitchen that is so appealing? The bright, clean aesthetic gives an air of luxury, calm and balance, it is not loud, just simply inviting. Its reflectiveness adds a feeling of space but that’s only as long as it’s well-maintained. A big family, especially ones with children, can make this an almost impossible task, so here are some tips to helping you maintain your white kitchen worktops to a high standard.
It’s always the sun
Avoid natural sunlight shining on your white surfaces and cabinetry. Any beautiful white kitchen is at the mercy of UV rays which can turn a crisp white into a dirty yellow tinge which has to be replaced.
A natural cleaning remedy
Regular cleaning of your white kitchen is essential but you need to have the right cleaning products. Don’t waste your money on brand-labelled cleaning products when one cup of vinegar mixed with a tablespoon of baking soda and two cups of warm water is the best solution. Using a soft rag with this tried and tested cleaning solution on a monthly basis will ensure all-white surfaces.
Get rid of your grimy grout
For ceramic white kitchen worktops or tiled backsplashes, it’s essential to get rid of the grime collected in the grouting. Therefore, create a past with baking soda and water, and apply it on a regular basis. Further, put some vinegar in a spray bottle, spraying a coating of vinegar onto this paste. Finally, use a toothbrush to remove the paste.
Sink the stains
White kitchen sinks are amongst the most common areas to collect grease, grime and filthy elements. Simply clean your sink daily with an alkali soap and soft cloth. Alternatively, use bleach and let a water-based mixture of it sit in the sink, which should take away the scum.
Don’t absorb it
White kitchen worktops like marble or granite are naturally porous, which means that they absorb staining liquids like wine far more quickly than quartz or ceramic. Ensure that spillages are immediately wiped up to avoid staining but if staining of your white kitchen worktops does appear, use a solution of hydrogen peroxide with a few drops of ammonia.
All of these tips are faultless, necessary pieces of advice but it’s avoiding the sun that’s the most important. All the other tips will preserve a white kitchen, even if done less than proscribed, but there is no solution to prolonged sunlight apart from replacement, so get your blinds or curtains installed to avoid this situation.
