Many couples and groups find that the Mornington Peninsula is the perfect destination for a romantic or relaxing weekend getaway. Whether you plan to stay only a single night or have decided to make a long weekend of it, your getaway can be made even more enjoyable with gourmet bed and breakfast accommodation in Merricks, laden with local produce.

This sort of accommodation is exactly what you will receive when choosing to stay at the Cape Schanck Lighthouse – stay in one of the original lighthouse keeper’s cottages (or the motel style Inspector’s Room) and have a number of bed and breakfast packages to choose from. Some of these packages also include additional activities to enjoy on the Peninsula.

Standard Packages
In the standard package, guests will be provided with comfy accommodation in one of the three cottages and continental breakfast provisions to enjoy at their leisure. Whilst the owners try to stick to local and seasonal produce, you are likely to find an ample selection of fruit juice, cereal, fresh fruit, bread, croissants and spreads waiting for you.

Mid Range Packages
When guests opt for one of these packages when booking accommodation in Merricks, they will also be given access to some of the many activities that the Peninsula has to offer. Enjoy lunch and a tasting at nearby Box Stallion Winery, for example, or take advantage of bathing passes for the famous Peninsula Hot Springs. And don’t forget about a delicious continental breakfast!

Luxury Packages
Guests looking for the full experience often choose a luxury package, which includes two nights accommodation in one of the comfy cottages, continental breakfast provisions for each morning, a delicious packed picnic lunch (in either a basket or backpack, depending on your plans for the day), you choice of walk, and a two course dinner at one of the nearby restaurants.

All of the cottages are fully self-contained, ensuring that guests have everything they need to prepare a delicious breakfast. Enjoy your meal from the comfort of your bed, in front of the roaring fireplace or even outside on the verandah (weather permitting). If you would prefer a hot breakfast, the owners may be able to arrange some extra provisions or feel free to bring your own.

If you are looking for comfortable and affordable accommodation in Merricks, we recommend one of the many bed and breakfast packages offered by the Cape Schanck Lighthouse. Not only will you be given the opportunity to enjoy a romantic or relaxing weekend away, you will be within close proximity of many of the Mornington Peninsula’s most popular activities.

I personally really like these options for relaxation. I am quite an active person, so I spend a lot of time visiting the sights of the city. This includes late dinners at local restaurants. But a hearty breakfast should be required! I always try the local cuisine on such occasions. I found many interesting dishes for myself, such as Arabic hummus or Israeli foreshmak))

I am glad to hear that someone thinks the same way I do)) I am 54 years old and I like to travel and eat well. My first acquaintance with hummus occurred in Dubai. Good hotel, great restaurant. I tried hummus for breakfast and was hit on the spot. I could not find this dish in restaurants near the house, so I learned to do everything myself with the help of cooking classes. Usually, I make a lot of hummus at once and set aside the part for freezing as advised here. This is the type of food that retains all its flavoring properties after freezing.
