Sharing Ministry or Traditional Insurance

Is healthcare weighing you down? If so, then you might be part of the millions of Americans who have been looking for alternative healthcare options. One option that is growing in popularity is a sharing ministry. Sharing ministries unlike a traditional insurance company is not tax deductible, but you will be able to save thousands on healthcare every year.
What you need to know
Medi-Share is similar to Christian based health insurance. However, it is a sharing ministry. Although they are similar there are differences. Health insurance covers a wide variety of things such as pre-existing conditions, abortions, etc. Most sharing ministries will not cover things such as abortions, addiction treatments, and some have restrictions when it comes to sharing pre-existing conditions. A sharing ministry is not an insurance company, so it is not obligated to pay for your medical bills. Anything that goes against biblical principles will not be covered, which means that you are likely to pay out of pocket. Another thing to take into consideration is that most sharing ministries have a sharing limit. This is the amount of your bill that is able to be shared. For example, Medi-Share has a one million dollar sharing limit. CHM, which is another big sharing ministry caps the sharing amount at $125,000. However, you may be able to increase this sharing limit by upgrading. Insurance companies usually do not have sharing limits. This means that if your bill happened to come up to $2 million dollars, you would not have to worry about if you are covered or not.
One thing that we can't deny is that healthcare is extremely expensive. Healthcare is high due to administrative costs. Running a functioning healthcare system is expensive. Also, the fact that we desire top new innovative technology does not help us to find new solutions to lower healthcare. A sharing ministry reduces the cost of what you would normally pay. Some families are able to pay a whopping $400 a month. Along with being able to save, some companies such as Medi-Share give you free virtual doctor visits. Instead of having to get up and waste gas to drive to your local urgent care when you are not feeling up to par, you can use their virtual doctor visits to talk to a licensed physician. In under 30 minutes you will even be able to get a prescription.
How to qualify?
Not everyone will be able to use a healthcare ministry. Some are easier to qualify for than others. To use ministries such as Medi-Share or Samaritan Ministries you must be a Christian that is actively attending church. You must hold to the biblical gospel and you might even be required to get your pastor to vouch for your regular church attendance. Members of most healthcare ministries must live a healthy lifestyle. This means that you must drink alcohol in moderation. You have to stay away from smoking. You can't be involved in premarital sex. Once again, some ministries are more lenient than others.
If you meet the requirements, then examine both options thoroughly. Make sure to call a sharing ministry and find out what they cover. If you are satisfied with what you find out, then apply and get ready to save hundreds.
