Have you ever been to the future? Unless there is a Marty McFly among you reading this, then probably not. You can do it however if you decide visit Singapore. Often called the playground for the wealthy, this small country offers many exotic, interesting and futuristic places to behold. Visiting and describing them all is a tough deal, so we'll name the top ten.
1. Marina Bay
Probably the most recognizable landmark in all of Singapore. Marina Bay has gone under some dramatic changes over the years, for the better of course. If you happen to visit it around 20:00, you'll be amazed by the firework show, as if to say "welcome, this is just the beginning". You can visit the Science Museum here, Casino, various dining, clubbing and shopping options await as well, creating a perfect nightlife experience.
2. Singapore Botanic Gardens
If you've arrived earlier, before 11:00, not many businesses are open. You can pass your time by relaxing here (it's open from 05:00 'till 00:00). You can breathe some fresh air, relax on the grass, do some jogging, or see the Nation Orchid Garden's orchids, to be exact one thousand of them, along with two thousand hybrids.
3. Singapore Flyer
To put it simply: it's the world's largest observation wheel. It's sheer size is terrific: it's 150 meters in diameter, 165 meters high, and goes at 0.21 meter per second. For those of you who are wondering: yes it is bigger than London's "London Eye", much bigger.
If you want attractions, authentic Chinese food, red lanterns, hustle in the street... this is your place. Everything here is alive and kicking. For early birds that get up at 04:00, this is a chance to hear the morning drum ceremony. Those on the spiritual side can visit the Thian Hock Keng Temple, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and many more.
5. Universal Studios
The first of it's kind in Southeast Asia can be found right here. There are twenty themed zones here, like the Lost World, Madagascar, far Far Away (for Shrek fans); two water rides, five roller coaster rides; and numerous marry-go-rounds for people with kids.
6. Plastic Surgery
Who knew Asia is famous for plastic surgery? Joking aside, this is the place to get all your nips and tucks for the ones willing to go under the knife; and botox injections and other non surgical face-lifts for those who want to skip surgery but still look younger.
Calling themselves the world's best rainforest zoo, no one can argue that it's not an impressive one. To get how big it is: it takes three hours to visit everything. The zoo itself is clean, while the animals have a lot of habit space, seem well treated and all in all surrounded by care.
8. The Merlion
To say it's just a statue would be a huge understatement. It's a symbol of Singapore, a place to get all the best views and photos. To grasp how magnificent this seventy tonne statue is, take into account that over a million people visit it every day.
9. Haji Lane
This small lane is the go-to place for fashion enthusiasts. There are numerous shop-houses here simply waiting to be explored, and each offers something new and exciting. This is a must if you want to buy a dress, jewelry or accessories while in Singapore.
10. Sentosa Island
If you want some sun and fun, then head out here. You can play beach volleyball, go kayaking, and even skim-boarding. If you just wish to enjoy some "me time" alone, chilling and drinking cocktails, then you can do that to.
