Making things simpler with Cancer Research UK's free Will writing servicePosted on: 04 March 2019 by Cancer Research UK
Leaving a gift to a charity in your Will is a great way to leave a positive legacy behind, here’s our easy guide to ensure the causes dearest to you continue to benefit after you've gone.
If you're over 55 and have thought about supporting a charity from part of your estate but don't yet have a Will, you could consider the Free Will Service offered by Cancer Research UK. It allows you to easily write or update a simple Will - and, of course, it is free.
Most people who use the service leave a gift to Cancer Research UK. Their support is helping to beat cancer for future generations.
Leaving a gift in your Will is simple. While about 60% of adults in the UK admit they have supported a charity in the past year, the number leaving gifts to charity as a legacy is a modest 6%.
Perhaps we have a blind spot for legacy gifting because we prefer not to think of our own mortality. The reality, though, is that gifts in Wills should be seen as a celebration of how you lived and the causes you supported. A legacy is a gift of gratitude and optimism for the future - a gift that not only benefits your own family, but offers hope to millions of others.
