The Great West

America's West Coast is the perfect destination for a holiday packed with adventure.

Despite tighter travel restrictions to the States, the American West, with its image of cowboys, Hollywood and breathtaking scenery is the ideal destination for an enjoyable family holiday this summer. The ideal way to see the American West is by car, where you can take in all or some of these great locations:

San Francisco: San Francisco is home to Alcatraz, where Al Capone and the birdman spent many year, and the breathtaking Golden Gate Bridge. Take a ride on the famous cable cars or have a delicious meal in one of San Francisco's finest seafood restaurants.

San Diego: Relaxing on the beach in San Diego is a luxury anyone can afford. With its many resortss aand bustling city centre, this is somewhere there should be on every list of places to visit. Outside the city's you'll find natural wonders and spectacular scenery that is sure to make you want to return again and again.

Los Angeles: The home of the movies, Los Angeles is essentially one of the biggest gateway cities to Western USA. If it's the movie stars you want to see, then take a tour of the movie stars homes, or visit Mann's Chinese Theatre and the Walk of fame.

Arizona: The Grand Canyon never fails to impress visitors with its grandeur and is undoubtedly a place of tremendous beauty, peace and scenic grandeur. It is also a place of tremendous natural and cultural interest. Besides the Grand Canyon there are so many other national parks that they often go unvisited. Zion National Park has a different feel and is great hiking; a relatively short hike to Angel's landing takes you past waters wiggle to what seems either topple world. Arizona is also home to one of the most beautiful luxury resorts in the U.S at Scottsdale.

Utah: An often neglected State on the tourist itinerary, Utah has the most astonishing scenery in the West, you'll find Bryce Canyon, Zion and and Arches National Parks. Visitors will also enjoy Salt Lake City, which has played a pivotal role in the development of the Western states, and today has strong links to the Mormon community. Driving in Utah is very easy and is the best way discover the many national parks and stunning scenery.

Nevada: With its wild mix of natural beauty in dazzling cities, Las Vegas is possibly the biggest draw to Nevada, with 244 hourr enterrtainment, gaming and glamour. The deserts have a charm of their own and don't forget visit the magnificent Hoover dam or the resort town of Reno.

North West USA: Seattle is the perfect place from which to explore the Pacific north-west; the scenery is dramatic with its dormant volcanic craters, dense forests and an abundance of wildlife. The Rocky Mountains in Colorado are best known for the thriving Skiing culture in the winter months as the whole region is filled with people flocking to ski on some of the best snow in the world. In the summer the scenery changes to reveal beautiful green pastures with excellent hiking and mountain-biking or for those seeking adventure thrills and spills white water rafting down the Colorado River.

Whatever your interest and tastes you'll be sure to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in the American West this summer.
