TrekAmerica’s new 19-day ‘Patagonia Explorer’ package allows tourists the opportunity to trek in some of the most celebrated, rugged, remote and awe-inspiring regions of the world, including the spectacular glacial national parks of Chile and Argentina, to to the world’s southernmost settlement, Punta Arenas.
Experience the peaceful and cultivated landscapes of Chile’s Wine District near Santiago, following the wine tasting trail amongst famous vineyards. Continue into the striking Lake District and climb the perfectly conical snow-capped Volcan Villarica (2840 metres) peering down into a crater full of boiling magma.
Heading south takes you into the wilds of stunning Patagonia, a land of open pampas, remote beech forest and massive glaciers.The inspirational Termes del Amarillo Hot Springs offer a relaxing way to rest after a long day's travel, before crossing the border into the wide-open pampas, Argentina’s famous grasslands, range of the legendary Gauchos.
In complete contrast the following three days of the tour are spent hiking amongst the impressive granite spires of the Fitzroy Mountains in Los Glaciares National Park with a further day focussing on the massive Perito Moreno Glacier, the fastest moving glacier in the world.
As well as these aw inspiring explorations, the highlight for many on the tour will be a visit to the awe-inspiring World Heritage site of Torres del Paine National Park, where holidaymakers will be given the opportunity to spend four days in the park camping alongside shimmering lakes and thundering glaciers before heading towards journey’s end – the world’s southernmost settlement Punta Arenas.
